How to keep your PS5 cool

Imagine your screen going black with the statement “Your PS5 is too hot” as you are ready to advance to the next level of your favorite PS5 game.

PlayStations are designed to stay cool and dissipate any heat produced by heavy use.But there’s always a chance that your console could overheat and get permanently damaged, especially while playing graphically taxing games.

Follow our advice on how to keep your PS5 cool before it gets to that if the thought of it terrifies you.

1.Surface

The surface you put your PS5 on is key to keeping it cool! The vents may become clogged with dust and grime due to surfaces like carpets or rugs.

Instead, place your PS5 on a hard surface for optimal cooling, and use the included PS5 stand to ensure there’s enough space between the bottom of the console and the hard surface it’s placed on.

2. Environment

The environment you place your PS5 in can make a big difference in terms of temperature.

Make sure it is in a well-ventilated area with enough air circulation.

Avoid closets or cramped spaces where there is not a constant flow of air to cool the system.

All air vents must be free of obstruction. Also, place it at least 10 cm from any wall.

3. SSD with heat sink

Sony recommends installing a heatsink on the PS5’s internal SSD to maintain performance. As it already has a heatsink built, you can add the Kingston FURY Renegade SSD with Heatsink to your PS5 to add more storage.

The SSD is cooled and heat is transferred away from the device by a heat-dissipation radiator.

4. Regular cleaning

As with any computer system, over time dust can begin to accumulate in the air vents of the PlayStation.

On the console, there are particular ports where you can quickly suck up the accumulated dust.

By cleaning your PlayStation regularly, you will circulate the air and regulate the temperature.

Fortunately, there should be a few early warning signals that your PS5 is overheating before it causes any serious harm.

You can tell if the console is getting too hot because the internal fans will start making a loud, odd noise.

Performance concerns, such as graphic glitches and game crashes, can potentially be a sign of overheating.

The dreaded “Your PS5 is too hot” notice may appear.

The PS5’s main warning sign of overheating is to turn it off and wait for the temperature to drop.

You shouldn’t experience any significant problems if you follow our instructions for keeping your PS5 cool and pay attention to the warning indications that your PS5 is becoming too hot.

Don’t let the game end: keep your PS5 cool and keep the games going!
